Research Interests
A variety of oceanic phenomena are of interest to me, such as: large meander in Kuroshio south of Japan, tidal sand ridge formation,
tidal front, Soliton wave, island (headland) wake, diminsished Arctic sea ice, sedimental transport, DDT dispersion and water quality assessment,
eddy signal in SST, and so on. In terms of oceanic energy cascade, my broard research
interests span from submesoscale, mesoscale to large domain scale.
Current Grants:
1. Island wake study, funded by NSF (as PI).
2. Eddy Information extraction and analysis, funded by NASA (as PI).
3. DDT study in SCB, funded by EPA/USGS (as Co-PI).
4. Laboratory Experiments, funded by European Union (as Co-PI).
Current Researches:
- Island wakes and their environmental impact.
- High-resolution realistic simulation
- Southern California Bight Circulation and Forecast System
- Bering Sea Ice-Ecological-coupled System
- Sediment Transport
- Pollution (such as DDTs) Dispersion and water quality assessment
