Following the request from many students, we've planned an outing to
a local ice skating rink for our February event.
The price will be between $4-$7, depending on if we have enough people (12
or more) to get a group rate. XEP is covering the cost of skate
rentals.

food, so XEP has decided to fill your heart with joy and invite you to an
International Holiday Potluck.
We encourage you to make your favorite holiday dish from home, wherever in
the world that may be, and join us on DECEMBER 5, around 4PM at Matt and
Calypso's house.
Please RSVP with the number of people attending and what type of dish you
plan to make. (Drinks will be supplied courtesy of XEP. Friends and/or
significant others are definitely invited.)

Ralph J. Cicerone Nominated for NAS President
June 15, 2004: The Council of the National Academy of Sciences has unanimously approved the nomination of Ralph J. Cicerone, chancellor of the University of California, Irvine, for election as president of the Academy, to succeed Bruce Alberts on July 1, 2005. An atmospheric chemist, Cicerone was elected to the Academy in 1990 and has served on more than 40 NAS and National Research Council committees. In 2001, he chaired the landmark NRC study Climate Change Science: An Analysis of Some Key Questions, conducted at the request of the White House. The NAS membership will formally ratify its selection for president by ballot in December 2004. [press release] |
