Congratulations to the winners of the 2007 Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Graduate Student Awards:

Clare Wong received the Morris Neiburger Award for outstanding teaching
Sergio Abarcas-Fuente and Chris Holloway received the Brian Bosard Memorial Award.
Chris Holloway and Mimi Hughes received the Bjerknes Award for outstanding student research.


From November 2005:

Congratulations to the winners of the 2005 Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Graduate Student Awards:

Brendon Rubin-Oster received the Morris Neiburger Award for outstanding teaching.
Mimi Hughes received the Brian Bosard Memorial Award.
Yuri Shprits, Simona Bordoni, and Shuhui Wang received the Bjerknes Award for outstanding student research.

Congratulations to Rob Fovell for receiving the UCLA Distinguished Teaching Award (Eby Award for the Art of Teaching, 2005).


From October 2004:

Congratulations to the winners of the 2004 Department of Atmospheric Sciences Graduate Student Awards:

Albert Nester received the Morris Neiburger Award for outstanding teaching.
Nikki Lovenduski and Hanne Murphey shared the Brian L. Bosart Memorial Award for improving graduate student life in the department.


From 28 January 2004:

Congratulations to Brian Tang on being awarded the Charles E. and Sue K. Young Undergraduate Student Award for undergraduates who have achieved distinction in their studies, demonstrate research potential and are active in University and/or community service.


From 28 October 2003:

Niki Gruber has been selected as this year's winner of the Rosenstiel award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to Marine Science.

Among past winners of this award are Henry M. Stommel (1977), Andrian E. Gill (1985), James E. Lovelock (1990), Isaac Held (1993), Ralph F. Keeling (1997), and Stephen E. Belcher (2002).


Also, Michael Ghil will receive the 2004 Richardson medal of the European Geosciences Union.

The Lewis Fry Richardson Medal is the Nonlinear Geosciences Medal....

Previous recipients are Uriel Frisch(2003), F.H. Busse (2002),  J.C.R.

Hunt (2001), B. Mandelbrot (2000), R. Hide (1999), V.I. Keilis-Borok
