These old predictions were based on extrapolations of old values of CFC usage. Since then, the amount of CFCs used worldwide have plummeted, mainly due to treaty. The ozone depletion will continue for some time, since there's still some CFC from 10-20 years ago still making their way up to the ozone layer, but by sometime in the middle of the century, the ozone loss should slow down considerably.
