For hardware purchases, the department recommends buying the vendor's hardware warranty support for a minimum of three years with all systems.

Operating systems

PC platforms – Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1
Mac platforms – Mac OS X 10.5.x-10.7.x
Unix platforms – Mandriva Linux (2009.0-2010.1)
