Michael Ghil is awarded Lewis Fry Richardson
Medal of the EGU for 2004.

Michael Ghil has been awarded the Lewis Fry Richardson Medal of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) for 2004. This is the EGU's Nonlinear Geosciences Medal. The previous recipients are Uriel Frisch (2003), Fritz H. Busse (2002), Julian C.R. (Lord) Hunt (2001), Benoit Mandelbrot (2000), Raymond Hide (1999), and Vladimir I. Keilis-Borok (1998). Michael Ghil has been cited "for his fundamental research on testing and improving climate models based on nonlinear analysis of geophysical time series" and delivered a Medal Lecture at the next EGU Meeting, to be held in Nice in April 2004, on "A Nonlinear Tour of the Geosciences."
