Actually, I am a JNR fan since I was a child. The book we can read when we were kids is only from Japan. The above photos are the example of JNR trains I like. The left one is famous 485 series EC. I remember I had a dream about this train running in Taipei many many years ago. The left one is Kiha58 DC. It is my favorite Japanese trains, too.
The Sleeping
trains are so-called Blue Train in Japan. The photo shown above is the
famous Hokutosei blue train. It connect Tokyo area to Hokaido. The locomotive
in left photo is DD51 and the right photo is my B1 room. It is a single
room, and just have only 8 this kind of rooms in one JR Hokaido owned trains
in 1996. My friend in Japan gave me the news about new Hokutosei which
will owned by JR East: One train of "HOKUTOSEI" will be replaced in
the summer 1999. Now, 6 trains of "Hokutosei" run a night. The new train
will be installed compartment to all passenger cars. New cars will be "double-decker".
The newspaper didn't refer to the coloring of the new train. So maybe
the blue train is still the "blue" train, I wish!
The following
photos are the inside view of JR Hokaido Hokutosei. The lefe one is Lounge
car, and the right one is Dining car.
