Hung, Chih-Wen

Nice to meet you via internet.

I was a big rail fan since I was a child. When I was 2 years old ,my mom gave me the first railroad trip. When I was 5 years old, I began to collect railroad tickets. The passenger train tickets are so colorful in Taiwan. I am so happy to have them. Also, When I was 5 years old, our family have chance to stay America for a short time, because my dad studied in USC at that time. We bought many American N-scale model. My first N-scale model of American railraod is Santa Fe F-unit and B&O F-unit. Later, We have some Union Pacific coachs and cobooses.

When I entered elementary school in Taiwan, we were taught Kate Shelley story in Chinese class. That's the first time I knew things about Chicago & North Western RR. I wrote the first railroad article in school magazine when I was in high school. I enetred National Taiwan University in 1989, and study in Dept of Atmospheric Sciences. I began to wrote railroad report in one of the biggest newspaper in Tainwan, China Times. My weekly column was named "Taiwan Railway Story". I published my first book in 1992. It was the best books of Taiwan in that year.Later, I wrote some other railroad books. You can find them on my Publication item of my homepage.

I have visited Japan and Hong Kong Railways. In 1996, I went to Iowa State University for graduate study of Atmospheric Sciences. ISU is a very good train-watching town in Midwest of America. I began to love the Green and Yellow Chicago & North Western RR. In 1997, I transfer to UCLA. So, I am in California, now. I am a member of C&NW Historical Society and Taiwan Railway Cultural Society. I will have a big railroad book publish in 1998 called " Classic Taiwan Railways".
