"Do we understand the behavior of precipitating shallow cumulus convection? "

My interest is in better understanding the interaction of precipitating shallow cumulus convection with its (large-scale) environment through the use of field data as well as model simulations. The first part of my PhD focused on identifying relationships between precipitation from shallow cumulus and large-scale meteorology using observations from the RICO field campaign. The second part of my research focuses on explaining these observed relationships using a set of Large-Eddy-Simulation (LES) experiments and theoretical bulk models. My ideas and questions are best described in my proposal [pdf] and ongoing work and results can be found by following below links.
