This June was drier than normal. There was no rainfall at all this month.
Normal June rainfall is 0.11. There is normally one measurable rain day in
the month. However, it's not unusual to get no rain in June. Over the last
decade, there have been three other years recording no rainfall(last time
in 2008). The median June rainfall is just 0.01 inch.

The 2011-12 rainfall season ended with a total of 10.82 inches at UCLA. That was
well below the normal total of 18.78 inches(18.62 inches in non-leap years). This
season's total ranked 18th driest on record(15th wettest last year with a total
of 24.96 inches). The season started out wetter than normal in October and November,
but it faded for the remainder of the season. There were a total of 27 measurable
rain days this season(November had the most in a month...six days). It ranked tied
for 10th fewest, measurable rain days in a season(last occurrence in 1963-64).
Normal measurable rain days in a season is 35 days. The first measurable rain day
was on 30 September, 2011(later than the long term average of 5 September). The
final measurable rain day of this season was on 25 May, 2012(very close to the long
term average of 26 May).

This month was cooler than normal. The mean temperature was 64.0 degrees(lowest
since 1999). That made it 1.7 degrees below normal. The mean temperature ranked tied
for 19th coolest June in campus history(first in 1977). The average maximum temperature
of 70.1 degrees was 2.8 degrees below normal. This ranked it tied for 15th coolest
in this category(first time in 1950 and repeated in 1967). The average minimum
temperature of 57.9 degrees was just 0.6 degree below normal. So, it ranked only
tied for 31st coolest in this category(first time in 1998). This month averages one
90 degree day every other year, but there was none this year(hasn't been one since 2008).
There weren't even any 80 degree days this month(three days is normal). The highest
temperature this month was 76 degrees(27th). There were 15 days this month where the
maximum temperature stayed below 70 degrees(normal is eight days). The lowest reading
of the month was 55 degrees(6th, 25th). No temperature records were set or tied this month.

Campus visibility this month did not fall to one mile or less(observed or estimated).

There was only one day this month with significant wind(at least 25 mph gusts).
Occasionally brisk winds occurred on the 5th(West northwest through north northwest
except southwest in the afternoon). The peak gust was a northwest wind to 28 mph.
